The Success Lift Podcast

Jan 17, 2022

In this episode of The Success Lift Podcast, Brian welcomes Sean Casey. Having been a MLB player for 12 years, Sean has assimilated a lot of the mindset, attitude, and perspective of a baseball player and applied it to the situations and lessons of his current day to day life. He talks about how persistence is fundamental in all areas of life, in the field, and it’s extremely important to reach a goal.

Sean and Brian also discuss interesting aspects of fatherhood and how kids should be responsible – and should be made responsible – for the choices they make in life. As a parent, the limit of what can be done in terms of guidance and advice goes only to a certain point, and what might happen beyond that point should be entirely a responsibility of the child. Tune in to listen to the whole episode!

Key Highlights

  • Sean dives deep into his background as a MLB player and what lessons he took from this time of his life;
  • Sean talks about fatherhood and how important it is to understand the fine line between helping too much and not helping at all. According to him, parents need to navigate carefully the daily situations they will be “disabling the kids by enabling the kids”;
  • Sean highlights the importance of not getting too caught up on the results and just enjoying the process. Being too stressful about the end goal can originate feelings of anxiety;
  • Sean talks about his own process of setting up a routine that works for him, making the day more organized and more structured.
